There are five Recovery Colleges currently operating within Northern Ireland, one within each of the Health Trusts and each offering a range of inspiring courses and workshops. They are a new initiative within the Province but have been operating within the rest of the U.K., very successfully for a number of years.
People do not have to be referred by a GP or therapist to Recovery College courses, they are open to anyone, who has an interest in a particular topic. They can join classes by completing a simple registration form.
These Colleges offer education rather than therapy as a route to Recovery from Mental Health Challenges.
Everyone has challenges, everyone can learn. These courses provide the opportunities to encourage individual recovery, wellness, empowerment, progress and life-long learning.
